How can artificial intelligence be used as a force for good in the arts and culture sector?

That’s the question Smartify, the world’s most popular museum app, has been exploring over the past year.

It’s culminated in the launch of two AI-assisted technologies that are revolutionising the visitor experience at museums and galleries around the world.

Introducing AI-powered personalisation and AI translations! 🎉

Have you ever been to a museum and not known where to begin? Glanced at a floor plan and wondered where your favourite artworks are hiding?

With AI-powered personalisation from Smartify, that’s a thing of the past. Now museums can provide every visitor with a bespoke itinerary of what they should see – and in what order – before they even set foot in the building.

Instead of turning up with only a rough idea of what they want to see (perhaps the museum’s highlights or a few artworks that pique their interest), visitors are able to arrive with a personalised tour already in their pocket.

To create this bespoke collection of artworks and stories, they simply select their language (including British or American sign language), choose the topics and the kinds of artworks they like, and enter how much time they have to spend in the museum.

Smartify’s AI engine does the rest, matching the person’s interests with artworks on display and calculating the distance between each object to curate the most engaging visit possible in the time available.

This personalised tour is then available alongside the museum’s other audio guides on Smartify. It’s also sent via email so that the visitor can access the collection at any time from home.

AI translations

For many tourists, a visit to a city’s must-see museum or art gallery is top of their travel plans.

But beyond some simple way-finding instructions, or perhaps a print-out with translations of a room’s wall labels, how much of the visit is truly accessible to them?

With AI-assisted translations from Smartify, visitors from every corner of the globe can access key information in their native language with just one tap, helping them get the most out of their visit.

Translations are available for French (Français), Spanish (Español) and Portuguese (Português), as well as Hebrew (עברית), Traditional Chinese (正體字), Greek (Ελληνικά) and more than 20 other languages.

Localisation is available across the Smartify app, including tours, exhibitions, venues and collections, allowing every visitor to feel right at home… no matter how far away that is.
